Functions of Sandblasting
The main purpose of sandblasting is to wipe the surfaces and clean them, and it is a technique that has become popular worldwide. Sandblasting process is employed when cleaning metallic surfaces or during class etching and it involves the use of sandblasting tools to blast air and or steam at high speed. For typical use, a sandblasting tool must have the major parts, a blaster nozzle and an air compressor that work to give the fluid a high pressure for abrasion.
Depending on the application, the grit of a sandblasting equipment varies. These are some of the grit types commonly used; Copper and Iron Slag, shells of walnuts, Glass Beads, Crushed Glass and Aluminium Oxide. Aluminium Oxide is mostly utilized when preparing surfaces and during finishing. When dealing with contaminants on surfaces that are aggressive, Glass grit is preferred. Plastic grits are used mainly to rub off paints and rough coatings without damaging the lower surfaces. when walnuts are used, they work perfectly on aggressive scraping while protecting underlying layers. Corn cobs is another grit that is used for the treatment of delicate surfaces. The substrate remains intact while the contaminants are stripped off. Steel grit is another type that is applied to rough and aggressive services making them smooth and polished.
Rusty surfaces, burred portions, surface aging and scales, machine wear and tear are some of the inevitable problems most companies go through. This can be so bad but there is a best way to make them new again, through application of sandblasting equipment. with the use of sandblasting, the method will eliminate all the rust and prepare the surfaces ready for application of coatings and paints. products that aren’t painted won’t appear appealing to customers. paints can only work if the surfaces are smooth and without any contaminant. Rust will lower the performance of every machinery and can even damage it permanently if it is not removed. Another use of sandblasting when removing moulds on plastic components. Cleansing of stones, concrete and brickworks requires sandblastic. The high velocity and pressure of grit propulsion gives an opportunity for cleaning of boat hulls.
Wear and tear is another problem that damages the shape of most equipment. Sandblasting equipment can be applied to profile of the edges and the whole components. An area that has exploited more this application is engraving of cemeteries. Most customers like three dimensional signings than the flat signs. artwork is another area that has found most uses of sandblasting equipment. These applications has extended to buildings refurbishments, where the rings on the woods in wood signage are made significant from the grains by lifting them by use of sandblasting equipment. Sandbalsting equipment can be applied for multiple purposes that include residential beauty, industrial shaping, commercial cleaning and various resurfacing applications.
